Cross-border private car vs High-Speed Rail (HSR) for business teams
While the train ride between Hong Kong West Kowloon Station and Futian or Shenzhen North takes a moderate transit interval, the true door-to-door journey for a business team with luggage looks very different:
- High-Speed Rail involves three separate legs: A taxi from Central or HKIA to West Kowloon Station (a moderate transit interval) + arriving early for ticket gates, baggage X-ray and co-location immigration walkways (a moderate transit interval) + the train ride + queuing for a local car in Shenzhen to reach Qianhai or Nanshan (a moderate transit interval).
- A cross-border MPV is one continuous ride: Your driver meets you at the HKIA arrivals hall with a name board (included) or at your hotel door, helps load your suitcases once, and drives up to 6 colleagues directly to your Shenzhen, Dongguan or Guangzhou address while you prepare for the meeting in a quiet cabin.
What to expect at the border checkpoint
On trips to or from mainland China, regulations require passengers to step out at the mainland checkpoint for immigration and customs inspection, then rejoin the same car right outside. On Hong Kong ⇄ Macau trips over the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge, whether you stay in the car for Macau entry depends on your passport (nationals of Macau visa-free countries may stay in the car with a valid passport).

Frequently asked questions
Which port is best for going from Hong Kong Airport to Shenzhen Qianhai or Nanshan?
Shenzhen Bay Port is the most direct road link connecting Hong Kong International Airport and the western New Territories with Shenzhen Qianhai, Nanshan and Shenzhen Bao’an Airport. When you enter your pickup and drop-off on our booking page, the fare is quoted for the whole door-to-door route.
Do we have to take our luggage through customs at the mainland China checkpoint?
On trips to or from mainland China, passengers step out at the mainland checkpoint for border and customs clearance with their luggage, then rejoin the same car. Your driver assists with loading and unloading at the checkpoint bays.
Are cross-border cars available for late-night arrivals after 11 pm?
Yes. Pickups between 11 pm and scheduled hours carry a night surcharge: HK$400 on Hong Kong Airport ⇄ Macau, +HK$100 on Hong Kong ⇄ mainland China, and +HK$100 on Macau ⇄ Guangdong. When your booked pickup is in that window, the surcharge is already included in your online quote.
